Heidegger describe la época actual como la del tiempo de indigencia: "Es el tiempo de los dioses que han huido y del dios que vendrá", en esta circunstancia, con un estilo y una tradición cultural diferente, aparecen tres escritores: Ernst Jünger, Yukio Mishima y Ezra Pound, que por caminos distintos anuncian el cierre de un ciclo y de una forma cultural agotada: la de la cultura racionalista y la civilización de la ciudad.
A su manera y con una personalidad propia, opuesta al igualitarismo y al colectivismo, cada uno de ellos desarrolla una apología de la barbarie.
¿Cómo un junker, partidario de la tradición (Jünger), un héroe y un esteta (Mishima), y el enemigo de la usura, forjador de Los Cantos (Pound), se aproximan a la barbarie? ¿Cómo encarnan esa nueva barbarie?
Los valores bárbaros de acuerdo con Nietzsche son aquellos que permanecen cargados de sentido y de vitalidad, separados de las abstracciones y de las justificaciones humanitarias, portadores de un para sí y de una acción incondicional.

Las irrupciones inaugurales de Magallanes en la literatura como lugar de paso, y luego de colonización fallida, se articulan sobre la base de una serie de aperturas, cierres, desplazamientos y bloqueos que, asociados a fuerzas naturales descomunales, un mundo indígena giganteo y un culto que termina entregando el control exclusivo del lugar al demonio, terminan produciendo una serie de representaciones funcionales al proyecto político del imperio español del momento, justificando su fracaso en el territorio.
Sostengo que "La Antártica y otros mitos" (1948) de Miguel Serrano, vuelve sobre dichas representaciones del imaginario austral, esta vez desplazadas hacia el Continente Blanco, para hallar en un Magallanes —relegado nuevamente a lugar de paso ahora en el proyecto nacional—, el nexo entre Chile y la Antártica: mitos y leyendas del pueblo selk’nam, territorio y nazismo, articularán la causa de la nacionalización de los hielos como un deber patriótico, que será refundación, elevación y proyección no solo del ser chileno, sino de Occidente.

The Illuminatus! Trilogy is a series of three novels by American writers Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson, first published in 1975.[1] The trilogy is a satirical, postmodern, science fiction–influenced adventure story; a drug-, sex-, and magic-laden trek through a number of conspiracy theories, both historical and imaginary, related to the authors' version of the Illuminati. The narrative often switches between third- and first-person perspectives in a nonlinear narrative. It is thematically dense, covering topics like counterculture, numerology, and Discordianism.
The trilogy comprises three parts which contain five books and appendices: The Eye in the Pyramid (first two books), The Golden Apple (third and part of fourth book), Leviathan (part of fourth and all of fifth book, and the appendices). The parts were first published as three separate volumes starting in September 1975. In 1984 they were published as an omnibus edition and are now more commonly reprinted in the latter form.
In 1986 the trilogy won the Prometheus Hall of Fame Award.[2]
The authors went on to write several works, both fiction and nonfiction, that dealt further with the themes of the trilogy.
Illuminatus! has been adapted for the stage, as an audio book and has influenced several modern writers, artists, musicians, and games-makers. The popularity of the word "fnord" and the 23 enigma can both be attributed to the trilogy.
